What project around your house or in your business have you been putting off? Why? Why do you put it off? Though I'm a big fan of getting things done, I also do face some challenges, and I get very creative about procrastinating. Whenever there is a software update, I let out an audible "Ugh!" I wonder what is going to be different and how long will it take me to get up to speed with the new system. That challenge may never go away. For over a year, Plumber las vegas I had a water pressure problem in my house. Some days taking a shower could be a challenge, and I had to run around just to get wet. (Sorry for that image in your head.) I put up with it, but it was a bigger challenge when I had guests. Two people could not take a shower upstairs and downstairs at the same time, never mind while the washing machine was going. I had to apologize to guests and wait until after their showers to do laundry.

Over a year ago, I decided to do something about it. I had my assistant look it up on the internet. She discovered that the problem can sometimes be caused by a water cartridge in the shower. It requires a simple part that costs less than $20. The other option was to call a plumber at a cost of at least $50 just to take a look. I decided to be cheap, even though I am not known as a do-it-yourselfer. A couple of weeks later, I went to Home Depot and had a very confusing conversation with a very well-intended employee. I left the store thinking I had it down and went back to my house to look at my shower controls again. After unsuccessfully trying to take the cover off for quite some time, I just started scratching my head. It was crazy, but I was going on another trip that week, so I figured I would take care of it when I got back. Well intended, but that did not happen. I just kept putting it off and justifying why I did so.

Though I was frustrated, especially when guests visited, I never figured it out. Sitting down and fixing it would have involved both focus and frustration. In my head, getting it taken care of was a wolf. It was just something I did not want to deal with. I travel a lot and never made the time to get it fixed. I also did not know any plumbers in Las Vegas. The wolf grew bigger, and I felt more frustration. What are your wolves?

I avoided my wolf for over a year. That is very simple to justify when you are single and travel regularly. When my girlfriend and some of her friends visited in December, however, we had four people in my house trying to shower. It was embarrassing. Although it reflected poorly on me, I felt worse that the challenging situation also reflected on her. Enough was enough; I had to make a change. That would not happen again. Time to attack the wolf in my head! I knew that doing it myself was not a viable option, at least not a good one. I decided to have a professional diagnose and fix the problem. So I called my friend Todd from church, an electrician. I trusted him and his judgment for a plumber recommendation better than choosing someone from a local internet search. (Wow, I almost said phone book; how old school am I?)I called and set up an appointment. The professional plumber came, diagnosed the problem, and fixed it in less than an hour. It was not the shower cartridge at all. He changed out a pressure valve in minutes, and my total cost was $199. Done. Problem solved.
