The Countess can be found in a side dungeon called the Forgotten Tower on Level 5, which is located in the Black Marsh region of Act 1. Farming her can be a pain due to the amount of traveling that is required to get to her, but it is possible that it is worth it, especially for newer players on the Normal and Nightmare difficulties, given that she almost always drops between one and three cheap Diablo 2 Non-Ladder Items whenever she is killed. This is especially true for players who are playing on the Normal and Nightmare difficulties. When playing on the Hell difficulty, she is resistant to damage from both ice and fire, which makes it difficult for the Sorceress to reach her unless they are concentrating on lightning. In spite of this, a skilled mercenary has the ability to stab her to death at any time if the circumstances require it.

With the exception of her ability to cast Fire Wall at the doors whenever you get close to her, the Countess' attacks are unpredictable because she is a Super Unique monster and possesses a variety of random modifiers. The only exception to this is her ability to cast it whenever you get close to her. She is always Fire Enchanted, which, in combination with the fact that her primary creature type is a Dark Stalker, is the reason for her immunity. These characteristics may shift from game to game, but she always possesses the Fire Enchantment.

The primary reason she is farmed is due to her propensity to drop runes, usually anywhere from one to three per run. Her Monster Level (mLv) makes it possible for her to drop a variety of interesting sets and one-of-a-kind items (at least in Hell difficulty), but the main reason she is farmed is for her propensity to drop runes. She has a chance to drop a Ral rune when the difficulty level is set to Normal, a Ko rune when the difficulty level is set to Nightmare, and a Lo rune when the difficulty level is set to Hell. If you are playing on Normal or Nightmare difficulty, the runes that she drops are sufficient to provide you with the runes you need to create many excellent beginners D2 ladder runewords, such as Stealth, Lore, Insight, and Spirit, amongst others (for more examples of what is possible, check out the page that lists the best beginner runewords). If you are playing on Easy difficulty, the runes that she drops are sufficient to provide you with the runes that

Underneath the Black Marsh, on the fifth floor of the Forgotten Tower, you'll find the Countess. This tower is part of the Black Marsh. The Countess, with her one-of-a-kind mechanism for dropping runes, is an engaging foe to hunt because of the variety of runes she can drop. On the Hell difficulty, she occasionally drops the Key of Terror, which is necessary for the Pandemonium Event. In addition to runes, this item is required for the event. In Diablo 2 Resurrected, the Countess is a quest boss that must be vanquished in order to finish the "The Forgotten Tower" quest located in Act 1.

The strategy that will provide you with the quickest and most accurate results in your search for the Forgotten Tower is to start your investigation at the Black March waypoint and work your way all the way out to the edge of the map. Continue going around the rim of the map in a clockwise direction until you reach the tower. In the event that the tower is not situated close to the edge of the playing area, there is a chance that it will spawn close to one of the features of the map, such as the entrance to The Hole, the waypoint, a bridge, etc...

You should start your search in this general area because the game will initially look for a location that is close to the edge of the board. If it is unable to spawn the tower anywhere near the edge of the map, it will search for a spawn location that is close to one of the features on the map instead.

If you can ignore the walls, the quickest way to reach the Countess inside the tower is to head all the way to the left of the way your character enters the tower level. This is the path that your character takes when they first enter the tower level. This presupposes that you are able to teleport to different locations. After you have traveled to the very end of the map, you will need to take one more turn to the left before proceeding.

If you begin a level and notice that there is nothing to the left, you should travel all the way to the bottom left corner of the map, then return to the beginning of the level and repeat the steps from the previous sentence as necessary.

- The Countess is in possession of two drop tables; the first is for common monsters, and the second is for one-of-a-kind runes

- These two tables are the only ones of their kind

- There is a possibility that the player will drop up to six different items, but this is contingent on the difficulty level being played at

- Because her normal monster drop table is rolled before her rune drop table, increasing the difficulty of the game will result in a greater number of items being rolled from her normal monster drop table while simultaneously reducing the number of rune rolls

- This is because her rune drop table is rolled after her normal monster drop table

- It is for this reason that it is recommended that you farm the Countess on the player 1 difficulty setting in order to maximize your chances of receiving rune drops

- You can find more information about this recommendation here

- On the other hand, magic find has no effect on rune drops

- This is because magic find only alters the frequency with which she obtains rare items, not the total number of items that she obtains

- This suggests that in the future there will be the same number of rune drop rolls as there are currently

An explanation of how the rune drops are calculated can be found as follows:The first five rolls of the dice are determined by using the item drop table that she possesses. If you roll the die twenty-nine times, there is a one in twenty-nine chance that it will come up empty. After that, three rolls are made using her rune drop table, and each of those rolls has a chance of rolling nothing at all equal to one-quarter of the total probability. If it does roll a rune, it will first roll the highest rune TC. This means that if it is hell, it will roll TC runes 12 (ist/mal), if it is a nightmare, it will roll TC runes 8 (io/hel), and if it is normal, it will roll TC runes 4 (ral/tal). If the TC doesn't roll a rune, the next TC is rolled all the way down to TC runes 1, which guarantees that either an El or an Eld rune will be rolled. If the TC rolls a rune, the process repeats itself.
